The standard V3 has a VGA camera so I'd say 1.2 megapixels is indeed "more than it used to be".

I can't believe that I waited for a year for this phone stateside and I finally folded last month and just got the regular bland razr that everyone has. The guy at the cingular store said not to expect this phone till Xmass... I'm gonna be pissed if it comes out before the end of the summmer.

Sorry, should've been more clear -- I was comparing to previous V3i launches (overseas), no noted improvements on the V3i for Cing.

The only upgrades it needs are EDGE compatibility, A2DP profile, and some way around the pesky iTunes limit. Mine's from Singapore and I love this phone.

The official Motorola page cited this release as Q2 '06 and, like WB233629, I too folded and bought a black RAZR, convinced that this would never make it to the U.S. I shivered with annoyance when I saw this photo... only 2 more loooong years.

hate to rub it in but the UK's had this phone since january - OK mine doesn't have itunes (itunes version just came out over here in red), but it's still a great phone and i have an ipod for music. Anybody know if it's possible to install itunes v3i firmware on a non itunes v3i?

it has been long awaited. i purchased my v3i unlocked about 5 months ago. this phone 10x better than the original v3. and im sure cingular's version will be even better!

I just went to the cingular website, and it does not even mention a word about the v3i. Something seems wrong with that........

I got this phone just before new year for free on contract (in the UK/no iTunes), It's a pretty good phone but doesn't seem to have the features of some of my friends new Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones, still it looks smart.

Just ask an old Cingular dealer friend about getting an imported V3i.
He says he'll be getting a shipment from Cinglar at the end of this week.

I'm shocked and pleased they finally got off their butts!
I've been with Cingular for 8 years, so getting a V3i with Cingular branding will be fine by me. ;)

OK, so is this phone worth waiting for? My Motorola mxp220 crashed on me. I have to get a new phone. I almost got the V3 when it first came out in 2004. I love the purple V3i - ok, girl thing I guess. I realize the V3i is not a "smartphone", but as long as I have contacts and calendar that sync with my pc that is fine. Unless anyone has any other suggestions on a good and fun phone, sync w/pc, pop3 email, able to be personalized, contacts, calendar all on it. I will use it for business, so it has to have good functions. I also live/work in a rural area and Cingular is my provider. Thanks!

i just called both Cingular and Moto. Cingular says they have the V3i in the inventory of supported and offered phones. The bad news is the warehouses have 0 in stock, which means it will not be in stores until they do. It will be in gunmetal and 299 with 2yr contract, 349 with 1 year and 399 with none. In their system it is supposed to be released in spring. Moto shows no release date in sight and it is not on the website---where the V3m is (verizon) ans since that phone is supposed to be out by the end of this month..that may just push the V3i back some.

QUESTION:
Why are there websites selling the V3i if it is not at the store? If the V3i is for Cingular and the V3x is for Verzion, then how does that work if it is purchased somewhere else besides the carrier it is selected for? How do you activate it when purchased from somewhere else? I just want this phone - now. VERY FRUSTRATING AND CONFUSING. Thanks for the help!!!

v3x is not for Verizon. Thats a GSM phone I believe. If you buy a GSM phone and its unlocked just pop in your SIM card and it should work. Verizon has the V3c and the V3m.

well for one....the V3i was originaly released in Asia and Europe......and the phones on the net for sale are from other countries in those regions....some with itunes and some without depending on the region----because in some it was released wihtout it...and in others with both(such as the UK)

Last night I saw a Cingular commercial advertising the
RAZR in ALL of the colors, including the purple, red etc. that is for the Razr V3i. I have not seen that commercial before with ALL of the colors. So I would think the release date would be soon - any word from anyone???? Have a great day and continue to wait - not fun.

Cingular should be ramping out a release in mid August. They are ramping out the push to talk currently, and the Razr v3i is sorta on the backburner. As for the colors and prices.. we still havent got all that info at the retail locations.

the v3i is such a cool phone and is a very good upgrade to the razr line, and i cant wait to get one myself because ive wanted a razr but decided to wait because i saw the v3i. i would like to know the date that its comming out, because i would like to get this it as soon as i can, because id rather get the v3i than any other cingular phone they have out now.

My contract is up for renewal in Nov. so I decided to take the plunge and buy a V3i via Ebay. I purchased a new one in gunmetal, and they accidentally sent me the deep purple (I like the purple). What I plan to do is in November I will renew my contract and take the best cheapest phone they are offering at that time and sell it via Ebay to recoup the difference that I paid for my V3i. Personally I hate Cingular branded phones with the opening and closing graphics by Cingular. I think I will always buy my phones unlocked viaa the internet. This is especialy useful to me since I travel a bit and can use the unlocked GSM phones virtually anywhere by using local SIM cards and not paying Cingular roaming rates.

folks, just for you who've read this, its been two freakin' months since cingular annnounced this phone, and it's still being delayed! now, if they were altering chipsets to create and EDGE capable v3i, i'd understand waiting nearly 3 months (last cingular rep said delayed until august) for a phone availible since last year. but this is stupid. just hold it and wait for the razr k1 (razr 2, krzr, whatever) to come out by christmas. or, even better, wait for the v3x-alike to come out by christmas with UMTS.

Today I was walking through the mall and saw in the window display case, and next to the "on sale" v3's was a deep purple v3i. I didn't go in to ask any questions, but I figured y'all would find this interesting

It appears as though you can now buy direct from Motorola the V3i DG in its unlocked version. I think this is the first phone I've ever seen Motorola offer as a direct purchase.

I will wait till mid august only mid august ,unless i like V3x alike, then ill get unlocked from ebay from uk or sumwat , now if apple doesnt take so damn long for a phone(if they actually making one) or if they shed some light on a rumored apple phone then im sold for V3i or V3x alike!!!! :)

Go to your local cingular store, the official stores, not the mall kiosks, they have the v3i's now, they're just not yet "official" but they are packaged in Cingular boxes. I could not get the salesman to quote me a price, but when I told him what I paid for mine via ebay, he seem distressed. Just so you know, I live in Maryland.

In 12/05 we purchased 2 of the black Razor V3 from Cingular. They sucked, both had lots of problem with sound quality and dust under the display. I called Cingualr's warranty exchange and was told that on 7/18 they were just advised the V3i were avail and all warranty exchanges were going to be fulfilled with the udgraded V3i due to the glitches with the regular V3. So sounds like they just became avail, although Cingular's website does not list them for sale yet.

So Cingular doesn't say anything about the V3i yet, but other official websites say it will be available in Q3 of 2006. So that means July, August, September. August is basically over, so im relying on the next few weeks for it to come out.
