Promo shots of Sanyo 6600 slim folder for Sprint
While the blurry shots we saw a couple of months ago let us know the general idea of Sprint's rumored 6600 "Katana" phone from Sanyo, we're happy to report that the real deal is looking like quite the hottie, and should be appealing to squeamish mobile users who can't quite handle the naming direction Moto is taking their slim line. Unfortunately, the Katana doesn't really expand upon the aging feature set of its RAZR rival, with a mere VGA camera, Bluetooth and conspicuously absent EV-DO. The 2.2-inch QVGA display is welcome, but we have yet to see if the phone will provide much opportunity to utilize it. Still, the phone is quite the looker, and its multiple colors out of the gate should at least give fashionistas cause to talk. There's no word on release date or price, but Sprint better get on this one fast before it looks even more ancient than it already is.

I spoke with a Sprint representative last week at a store and she informed me a new "RAZR-like Sanyo is being released on the same day as the 700p," which we all know is May 28th.

That is one awesome looking phone!!! But it is worthy of a treo swap? I'm liking the slim lines lately, but the full size kb is just something else. But man...can I say awesome one more time!!! That thing looks sweet. The electric blue plus sprint's new yellow logo. it just works!

It looks like it pales in comparison to the A900 Blade.

They didn't put EV-DO and other features on to make this phone a more affordable option. It's going to be "Sprint's cheap RAZR". I'm guesssing it'll be much better than the RAZR, too.
I'm waiting on Sanyo to release the upgrade to the 9000. I wish they'd hurry that up...

This phone looks great. I've actually held the black version of the Katana and while it is a blatant RAZR ripoff, it at least is a beautiful ripoff. I have the A900 now and don't plan on switching to the katana, but if it had EV-DO (like the rumored upcomiong line of Katana-themed phones might) I would seriously consider it. Long live Sanyo!

#4 - It'll be much better than the RAZR? Jeez, I hope so. The RAZR platform is two years old. These asians are a day late and a dollar short. Blade, Katana? Real original, guys.

That is the most obvious of RAZR copies I have ever seen... At least other manufacturers Samsung, LG, NEC, BENQ-Siemens tried to change the design up a little to make it visually different.
This thing copied everything... the shape of the area around the camera lens, the curved shoulders of the front faceplate, the size and placement of the outer LCD, the fat bottom lip, heck even the loop for the wrist strap is in exactly the same location as on a RAZR
Motorola.... need some extra cash to work on your next big design? Sue Sanyo!

Where are daphne and celeste when you need them eh?

it's a sanyo...so chances are it's going to have ready link.
this phone, even though its a watered down blade in terms of most features, would become a HUGE success if sprint released it along with a service that bridges ready link with nextel PTT. that way, you can chirp someone from your CDMA razr and make people who shelled out huge cash to get a bue razr imported look like a joke.

This phone is really nice better looking than the razor and comes in many different colors(White,Black,Pink, and Blue)I perfer white. Even though it has a vga camera it is going to be going for a good price. And all that dont KNOW YES IT IS READY LINK READY!!!!!THIS PHONE IS GOING TO BE A REALLY HOT PHONE!!!
