We were (
then weren't)
expecting it any day now, but it looks like Motorola and Verizon have finally done the deed and made the Q official. Final specs include EV-DO (duh), Bluetooth 1.2, stereo speakers, and the rest of the spread we've come to know all to well about this thing. The best part, however, is that you'll be able to order online starting May 31 or buy in store June 5th for a paltry $199 (after $100 instant rebate and two year plan, of course), with EV-DO enabled data plans to run between $80 and $170 per month, depending on your usage. And don't you even think about tethering this thing, mister.

Great, now when is the thing going to be available on Sprint (if ever)?

WOOHOO! Watch the intro, pay attention when they show the camera it shows 6x digital zoom written by the lense, but then the specs on the VZ site at the end of the intro quote 4x. What's deal with that? I really don't care either way, I'll have one by June 5 at the latest and put it through the ringer for two weeks. I hope it lives up to the expections. I can't wait for the hack to tether this bad boy too.

Did you see the intro movie says "half as thin". Now isn't that an oxymoron? Doesn't that mean it's actually twice as wide? It should be "half as thick".
Stupid Marketing Monkeys.

Josh,
50% thinner would be half as thick, 99% thinner would be 1% as thick, and 100% thinner would be zero thickness.

Does anybody have any info on the release of the H5 miniblue? (the butt-plug looking bluetooth earpiece) I noticed in the bottom right hand corner of the vzwshop Q page, if you click on Bluetooth accessories, it says the crippled bluetooth is compatible with the h500, h820, H5, etc
I'm interested in giving this thing a try to hopefully cut down on wind noise when on the golf course.
Thanks,

Whatevs. My ppc-6700 is so much cooler.

I thought that VZW said it was ok to tether a month or so ago?
It is disabled in the Q, and the WM5 update for the i730 has it disabled also ... yeah I know there are hacks; but I thought tethering was allowed now???

OK, I just went to the Verizon ad url. What's the name of the song that plays when the ad starts? Oh yea, and cool phone!

This looks like a VERY nice smart phone. I am anxious to move from my Axim to the Q. Question: Do these smart phones allow one to connect to the internet through a wireless access point, like at a Starbucks? Or does one need to use the Verizon Broadband?
bradyo @ May 23rd 2006 6:33PM
There is no Wi-Fi on the Q. With EV-DO, who needs it?
