Looks like one of the first uses of LocaModa's
Street Surfer technology we scoped out earlier this year is now open to the public. This setup at at the Digital Retailing Expo in Chicago lets passerbys change the clothing on a virtual mannequin using any cellphone. Although as we noted last time, it's not quite as cool as it sounds, with cellphone users simply dialing a number and responding to prompts instead of using Bluetooth for more direct control. LocaModa is also apparently demonstrating other uses for the technology at the expo, including real estate and travel apps, and interactive games.

Yeah . . . that's . . . real exciting.
Fortunately, DIYers can do much the same thing with tools like Flash, Processing, etc. And I bet they can come up with better ideas. Bluetooth doesn't really offer so much additional help; text messages are a good choice for compatibility and security.

I'd rather see some lezbo mannequins getting dirty!
