Motorola's SLVR goes Red for Africa
It wasn't too long ago we were hearing rumblings about Bono's humanitarian organization Red getting together with Apple to do an iPod. That obviously didn't (yet) materialize, but you can get another vaguely Apple-co-conspired device through Red if you were thinking of a SLVR. For each phone sold, Red's delivering to The Global Fund for African AIDS programs a £10 ($18 US), then 5% of call charges will also trickle through to the charity. We can only hope that with overhead on retail, Moto, Red, and the charity, a decent amount makes it through to the actual cause, but hey, if you're buying a phone anyway it's better than not buying Red at all, right? Unfortunately it's UK only for the time being (go fig), so if you're really concerned with the health and welfare of the Dark Continent, perhaps you should consider some more direct methods of donation.

Is this just on Cingular again? It would be best to share networks and get more funds for the foundation.
PLEEEEASE be available for T-Mobile!

"Unfortunately it's UK only for the time being" that means no Cingular. I should have seen this coming when a OEM Red Battery Door popped up on cnn.cn

what i don't get is how's the L7 a "vaguely Apple-co-conspired device"? seems to me that anything that has a screen with buttons on it automatically becomes "vaguely Apple-co-conspired device" here......

Why does Motorola insist on keeping its SLVR, RAZR, and PEBL keypads silver no matter the color of the casing. Surely there is some way to change the color of the pad, despite the fact that it's made of aluminum (I think). The keypad looks great on my original silver RAZR V3, but it looks out of place on newer versions like the RAZR BLCK, SLVR PINK, and PEBL BLUE. In my opinion the phones would look much better with matching keypads.
Otherwise, it's a good looking phone and, contrary to what others may think, I believe Motorola makes good phones (my RAZR is much better than my old Samsung clamshell).
Peace.

The keypad used on L7 and the V3 phones can't be colored the same as the outside due to they are made from copper that is plated. There are no ways to get a good color match using the plating. Motorola is trying some new techniques to accomplish this. I think you will see custom metal keypad from phones being released in the near future.

I think this color combination is great, the dark 'brushed aluminum color goes great with the black. it would go with my car and all that other good stuff i have that is red too. i already got a black l7 though, so i doubt i will take the effort to simply trade phones.
