Text and drive in Malaysia and go to jail
If you're in Malaysia and you
plan on spending any time behind the wheel, you'd better curb any temptation to read or send text messages while on the
road. Declaring that "using the SMS while driving is more dangerous than talking on the handphone," government
officials have mandated jail time for DWT. Having seen more than our share of distracted drivers, we'd have to agree --
even if we have a soft sport for our fans in
Malaysia.

I agree with this idea. I wish that the other governments around the world takes this matter more seriously. Every month, a lot of mobile phones are sold around the world. For example, more than 33 million new GSM handsets (http://www.southasiabiz.com/2006/05/huawei_planning_huge_investmen.html ) are going to be sold this year in the Indian market.

In the UK, if you're caught talking while driving without a hands-free kit, you get a 30 pound fine and 3 penalty points, which stay on your licence for 4 years. If you rack up 12 points, you get banned from driving. Understandebly, texting is much more distracting than talking, but jailing seems a bit extreme.
