Virgin Mobile launches Switch_Back QWERTY phone
It might not be any more good looking now that it's finally being released to public consumption, but
Virgin Mobile's new Switch_Back
handset by Kyocera still seems to be a solid choice for QWERTY-inclined text messaging fiends. Along with the
"hidden" QWERTY keypad (it's called a clamshell, guys), the phone sports internal and external displays, and
has a VGA camera. Otherwise there isn't much going on here. The handset will go for $150, and should be available in
stores nationwide.

As a Virgin Mobile customer, this is a pretty awsome phone that Virgin Mobile is launching. Ive been hearing about this phone for months and I'm glad that its finally going to be launched in late april.
This'll definetly be my next phone; and I'm glad its not HUGE or bulky or anything. *if you look up different pictures from other sites about this phone, its very small and compact*

As another Virgin Mobile customer, this must be the ugliest phone in the world! Can't see how looking at different pictures of this phone help either (e.g. http://mobilementalism.com/2006/04/11/have-virgin-released-the-worlds-ugliest-mobile-phone/)
Maybe it's blessed with great personality!

We've been working with this phone for a month or so. For the average SMS-addicted user it's a phenomenal phone, although larger keys would've been nice. Let's hope the guys at kyo can get all the firmware kinks out before it goes public.

looks okay if you ask me...
it would look pretty cool (to me) if the screen was bigger

Sorry, but it's ugly. The design would be more suited to a trainer, but not a mobile.

How are they going to bill for data usage? On a pay-per-use plan, I imagine it's going to hurt.

teeny little screen, no music-player, no expansion-card, no USB, and not even EDGE speeds??? no thanks...

This is one hugeass, ugly motherfucker. I never really got the draw of text messaging, but then I'm not a high school student.

As an old Virgin Mobile customer I do like to look in on their phones from time to time to suggest to friends that don't want to jump on the contract bandwagon. This phone is one I would definetly say is better looking then those in the past. I had one of the first flip phones and hating doing text or talking on it because it was small. This looks to be an excellent phone for basic usage like all of their others.
As for the question concerning how are they going to bill your usage? Did you try looking on the website to see how it was done? If you had you'd know that you pretty much get free data service, or you did when I was a member, and there is a minimal charge for text messages. But I'll leave you to educate yourself. http://www.virginmobileusa.com/greatrates/greatrates.do;jsessionid=G1xMhM1BmdKKVMJvmn8hzy1s92rCK754ydYQJz5Y9MPyVYJkCB8k!923443722!-839916616!7501!7502!1144992140367
Hope to see this in stores soon. Congrats Kyocera and Virgin on your success.
