Sprint Nextel outlines plans for dual-mode iDEN/CDMA and WiFi/CDMA phones

We use the word "outline" loosely here, since Sprint Nextel has so far mainly stated that a iDEN/CDMA phone is targeted for October and a WiFi/CDMA phone is due in the second half of the year. In the case of the former, things are really looking up for the iDEN push-to-talk addicts that might have felt a little jilted by the Sprint Nextel relationship. The phone will use iDEN merely for PTT functions, while Sprint's CDMA and EV-DO networks will take over the other operations. As for WiFi/CDMA, it looks like Sprint is planning on offering VoiP access for phones at use on people's home WiFi networks, but which can also operate on Sprint's cellular networks. Sprint also promised a limited rollout of 4G service in 2009, along with testing this summer of Qualcomm's MediaFLO live TV functions.

i like too know when will Sprint/Nextel combine the readylink services and the DTT in one phone. Reason i ask this is because we all know someone who has readylink or Nextel services. But will Sprint/nextel bust you over the head with high service plains

When will Sprint/Nextel offer there already customer somthing other then bad custmer services, and higher bills....They should at lease give you some kinda credit on a new phone. Heck, at one time AT&T came out with there new phone and if you was a custmer all you had to do was walk in and they gave it too you ""FREE"" Every new phone Sprint put out that has any kinda bells whistle on it, It's over $300.00. So now the new Sprint/Nextel ic502, i502 buzz hybrid phone are in the store. But if you have a EVDO on a Sprint plain now you lost it. They want too sign you up as a New customer So the time that you put in you you get no credit for it ..Mmmmmmmmmm to me bad deal
