LG's SD910 Duo Slide for twice the fun
We just
love us a new form factor now
and then, and LG
is really giving it their best with this new LG-SD910 Duo Slide phone. As the picture suggests, you just shift the
screen to see playback controls, and slide the whole unit to reveal a keypad. Otherwise it seems to be a rather basic
handset despite its bulk-inducing slider magic, with a mere 1.3 megapixel camera and MP3 player to keep it entertained.
The phone also includes that MBank service that is making its
way into more and more Korean handsets. No word on price or availability. But look! It slides two ways!

They should slide the screen even further to reveal a qwerty keyboard.

The Rubic's Cube of cell phones. Solve the puzzle and make a call....

I'm usually a big fan of the stuff that LG pumps out, but I think a WTF is called for here. Why waste the space and mechanism to have the second slide (the one that reveals playback buttons), when they could easily have just put those buttons below and above the screen (to the left and right when held horizontally) and have them be solid state buttons that light up when "active" like the Creative Zen Vision m or whatever the heck their latest ipod "attempted" killer.

Yet another "cool gimmick" to induce the youth into buying new phones thats liable to break in a couple months.

Interesting idea. But I still like music controls on the side, and the slider form factor still leaves the screen exposed to scratchs and whatnot.

To #3: Because button's aren't "COOL" until their hidden. THAT's why. *points as a matter-of-factly*
You can't PLAY with it unless it's hidden!
Obviously that's a bit of sarcasm there.
But hey why not I guess. I dunno, I AM a fan of new form factors here and there. This one seems too hugely bulky though.
