Sprint adds AKU2 for PPC-6700

Little by little, those
firmware upgrades are bringing AKU2 to the world of Windows Mobile smartphones, and now Sprint has joined the party,
offering the firmware upgrade for the PPC-6700. The main highlight of the upgrade is, of course, Blackberry-style push
email, though other features include bug fixes, a new voice speed-dial function and a device lock plug-in. Now,
Verizon, what's your excuse?

Orange UK also released their M5000 (HTC Universal, JasJar, XDA Exec) AKU2 update today:

What's Verizon's excuse? They're still figuring a way to charge their customers for upgrading and using this new feature. [end sarcasm]

Visit your local sprint service store, they can do the upgrade. I'm sure it will eventually be posted here http://www.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/support/downloads/index.jsp but it's not there yet.
Just make sure you sync up before heading to the store, all of the information on the device will be erased.

Nice to see AKU2 updates finally rolling out for some vendors. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Verizon to provide AKU2 updates.

Unfortunately, this update is missing the one thing most of us were hoping for: A2DP. Apparently it was present on a beta release that was floating around but pulled from the final version.

I talked to someone at the Sprint store today, he said that the download will be available on the Sprint website sometime next week. WHen you login to your account, it should come up and tell you that there is a software update. Thanks for the post though Kevin!

The update .exe is available at pdaphonehome.com in the forums. It's a simple install that takes around 20 minutes. That's time I could spend making and eating a sandwich instead of waiting at the sprint store.
