Cingular's next 3G handsets: Nokia 6282 and LG CU500

Looks like it slipped through
yesterday but Cingular apparently wasn't dry when it came to announcing (though not necessarily launching) new 3G handsets to
take advantage of their fresh new high speed data network. We can't imagine it came as any great surprise to anyone
following the saga, but they dropped in the Nokia 6282 as being
slated for launch, as well as a slightly more mysterious LG CU500, which we've yet to hear anything about. As per
usual, we'll keep you up to the minute on these suckas.[Via Phone Scoop]

Why Oh WHY did they go with a Nokia 3G instead of Sony Ericsson!? I've been hoping beyond hope that they'll pickup the W900 or the new K800...
Oh well, I hope they'll get a few more phones and finally launch video phone service.

I've never heard of the LG CU500. I was told that the LG CU320 would be the first 3G phone available on the Cingular network due to delays with the Nokia 6282.

Hmmmm...let's see, why go with a Nokia instead of a SE...hmmmm....NOKIA'S WORK! The SE's Cingular has had are a heckuva lot better than the ones AT&T did, but they still suck. The high end ones are better, but most consumers are incredibly cheap and don't want to pay more than $99 for a phone. It's seen even in the lineup Cingular has had, the z500 and z520 suck, the s710 and w600 were good, but had some stupid limitations and were incredibly slow in the menus. Nokia's last for years, get great signal strength, are easy to use and you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to get a good quality phone.

I'll admit, Sony Ericsson phones were not the best phones in the past. But SE has improved with every new generation. I owned a SE s710a and the phone had great features but the menu was a bit slow. But then again have you used the Nokia 6682? That thing got on my last nerve. The z520a and the w600i have greatly improved on GUI performance.
And don't get me started on Nokia's new GUI on their entry level phones. I've never had so many customer complaints about a phone except fot the Motorola V180 and V220.

Give us the Nokia N80 already, Cingular! It's bad enough that we've been waiting so long for UMTS un the US, and then 1900/850 instead of 2100, even... We don't want to be waiting until 2007 for the SE K800 or the camera version of the W900/N600 or the P990 to become available unlocked with UMTS 1900/850. I'm willing to buy a branded N80 right now, OK?

Not sure what problems you are referring to with AT&T SE phones (or Cingular for that matter). I currently own and use (on occasion when traveling) a T68i which was purchased 4 years ago and works fine to this day. I also have 2 T616 and a T637 which were consequently purchased, all still fully functional. All of them are in perfect working order and have been through a lot (I'm tough on my phones). I'm currently using a K750i which unfortunatley has poor signal reception in places due to the lack of 850mhz.
I have gone through 6 business nokias in 3 years - never had any of them last... Currenly using an Audiovox which seems to work alright but I hate windows mobile.
Bottom line is this - it comes to personal preference , and mine is to stay very far away from Nokia and Moto (those trully suck!)

i was given a Lg CU5000 cingular cellphone and apparently celtech here in our place
were unable to openline it.... can you send me a procedure on how i can do it myself? or
where else here can i bring it? but there's way that i can do it myself please tell me so....

i actually just purchased an LG Cu500 i should have it in a few days ill repost with my thoughts of it from what i read if it has a 3gp media player its the best fone available. but its not really available check the LG website for specs. :)
