FCC reveals stripped down e62 companion to Nokia's e61
Either as a bid to further compete with the now
free and clear Blackberry, or
merely as penance for their historical lack of QWERTY phones, it seems like Nokia is taking their e61 form factor to the low-end with a new e62 phone that has
surfaced on the FCC site. The e62 loses the 3G and WiFi of its big brother, along with some other slight modifications
including the apparent lack of push email connectivity. But otherwise this phone should serve well those who want their
email anywhere, but have are willing to wait a bit longer to receive it.

This would be a Motorola Q-killer - except, erm..... there's no Q to kill! I wonder if Motorola wil ever release their little Q that looked so good on paper. By the time they do, it will start to look look a little Quaint. Maybe actually the "Q" stands for "Quagmire?"

That is a wickedly large screen, but the design just SCREAMS square.

I'd say it screams 'nerd' but that seems like their target ... however, having seen the E61 in real life, I have to say that its actually sexy - in a girl with dark thick-rimmed glasses kind of way ...

I like key pad layout better than many of the QWERTY phones. These numbers are in the center, so left and right handed people can use the product in the same way.

Don't Nokia's Communicator phones have a QWERTY keyboard?! They've been around forever. Just because they haven't designed a similar phone to BlackBerry's, don't mean they haven't had that feature around in other forms.

Of course they removed the wifi... its because cingular wants to force all of us to never leave their network and use only their data services.
Let's hope the e70 doesn't get the cingular treatment...bah!

Is this likely to be picked up by any major US carrier?
