Nokia's N91 due March 2nd?

The rumors are flying about Nokia's much anticipated N91 4GB musicphone. The word is -- according to "insider sources," of course -- that they're busting out the phone on March 2nd in Taipei, Taiwan. There is also word that Nokia will be teaming up with Bose to augment Nokia's Bluetooth audio accessories we've been seeing around, in the form of a 20 percent off coupon for a few Bose products. That's all we have to go on so far, but if all this is to be believed, at least we won't have long to find out.

I want it. I just wish it had FLASH memory. I hear its pretty big. I think I am gonna get this and the N61 which is a beauty as well.
Nokia gets the shaft here in the US because they don't want to bend over and change their OS for carriers, and put carrier branding all over their phones, so they don't get the same play that LG and samsung get.

But they seriously are one of the best mobile phone companies out there.

I was planning on buying it last year when the iPod mini existed and I told my self I should get this instead as a music player and phone, but now that I've already got an 60GB iPod that is not much bigger, I think Nokia should have a "RAZR" phone that is thin, uses flash memory, and will have the same feature. It would be a iPod nano with a phone.

I actually don't really care about size as I carry 2 PDAs (private and business), 2 phones (private and business), and a iPod all at once and I don't notice there heft anymore.

Off topic I would like to point out that you can see that many people come to this site just hoping they can win a phone. Not many actually comment on these...

This phone's going to fail in the market place. Its two months late to market therefore not making it to market at the same time all the other walkman phones did. Its going to cost 900 bucks which means carriers will be warry of picking it up as they're only willing to pick up the trio's and blackberrys for that kind of coin and its supposably quite heavy and big like the n90...

Granted the moto-itunes is shit and the w810i from SE has yet to come out yet but people aren't going to pay tons of money for a brick thats not a smartphone and probably has the soundquality of an RCA.

I'm fine with the quality of my 6620, and I've set the OGG settings quite low, I think 84kbps or so. With 4Gigs of space, I could up that quite a bit, and be even further ahead of the game.

Also, it's Symbian. That's smartphone to me.

Not saying you aren't right about the outcome, just... there's more to be said for it than a expensive brick, non-smartphone that sounds shoddy.

It's a good thing that it's a smartphone then. :)

It's not aimed at the US market, so I doubt you'll have to worry about carriers not picking it up. In markets where phones are more heavily subsidised, there's no reason it shouldn't do well (in smartphone terms, at least).

Nokia have confirmed to us that the N91 will be shipping in the first quarter of 2006.

@ Simon
Battery life is 12.5hrs music playback, and 190 hours standby. These depend on the operator network configuration.

Sorry, i should have been more specific. Personally i think the term 'smartphone' is thrown around too easily now a days. If a phone has Edge or 3G capability, removeable memory and maybe Symbian or an Mp3 player its automatically a smartphone, but if we go by that, give it a year and every phone will be a smart phone.

So what i meant is people aren't going to pay tons of money for something thats not a crackberry or trio type of deal. I think one of the mail requirements for something to be a smartphone is it should have either a full qwerty or touchscreen or both otherwise you're basically saying that all a phone needs to be a smartphone is a certain piece of software.

I'm pretty sure I saw this one at Digital Life. I rather liked it, I didn't find it to be too big, it's rather cute but it is a bit heavy. (I still use a Nokia 3650) Seems like they could go with something sleeker/flash-memory-based in this day and age however.
