Helio's Kickflip
Remember that VK 650C that was supposedly headed for Helio, our new
fav MVNO? Well, they're launching it, and it's called The KickFlip. Expect it to come bedecked with a 2-megapixel
camera, 262k color QVGA display, "semi-auto" bi-directional swinging hinge, MicroSD, 70MB of flash memory,
stereo speakers, and, of course, EV-DO. We'd let you know how much it costs and when it launches, but well, we don't
really know yet ourselves. [Warning: PDF link]

Anyone care to speculate on whether or not Helios is going to have phones that run Windows Mobile?

I wouldn't bank on it. Helio is geared toward the youth market, and WinMob is still primarily geared toward business.
I'd still like to see Helio bust out with a QWERTY smartphone with these kinds of specs, but that will probably depend on how many customers they get for these phones. Existing Treo and HTC users aren't going to switch to the Hero or Kickflip.

I'd like to see the Moto Z come out on Helio instead of Verizon- it's already been made for Korea, it'll be easier to adapt it to Helio (a part-Korean company) than to adapt it to Verizon (All-American, and all-the-same styles... boring compared to Asia)

" Helio is geared toward the youth market"
Some may say that, and perhaps Helio mentioned it in their PR (I dont quite recall, though I've been keeping tabs on them for months), but I think their demographic is going to be a lot larger - with our without them intending it. I believe a lot of fellow geeks and phone phreaks have been waiting for a carrier than genuinely tries to push the envelope, even if only in terms of mobile content at first. Part of Helio's deal is that they're going to allow full consumer control of the phone's content - that is, you're free to load on wallpapers, ringers, movies, music, and so forth without it being "signed" or anything (I'm lookign at you, Verizon).
Sprint's been pretty good at this, but lately even their pay-for content has been really bland. Hopefully Helio will really utilize the hardware and the network's EV-DO speeds...

We've waited since January for the Helio Launch. I am somewhat disappointed. I don't see any multi-line Service Options AND even though they use CDMA networks they aren't offering Treo? I would really consider switching form Sprint, but I need more than 2 phones, before it is a real Option.
