Handset maker E28 Limited has teamed up
with networking specialists BridgePort Networks to create a reference design smartphone that can seamlessly pass off
calls between GSM and VoIP. The Linux-powered handset, being shown off at 3GSM, uses BridgePort's NomadicONE IMS
Convergence Server to perform Voice Call Continuity (VCC)-compliant handovers and claims three hours of talk time for
either connection. Specs-wise, this model looks fairly promising, sporting a two megapixel cam, 2.2-inch QVGA
touchscreen, and the usual multimedia and PIM features, although it doesn't seem to support 3G data networks. No word
yet of any carrier agreements, so for now we must continue waiting and dreaming of the day when we'll be able to make a
Skype-Sprint handoff as we head out the door.

or.....the operator could simply open up their TCP/IP connection and charge it at a flat rate so you could use Skype from the phone all the time.
